Scrap it with a Song

This weeks song at Scrap it With a Song is Once Upon a Dream sung by Emily Osment. For those of you that don't know who she is she plays Lily on Hannah Montana, or we can go farther back and she played in Spy Kids 2 (the little blond girl). The song is a remake of Disney's Once Upon a Dream in Sleeping Beauty that was made for the updated version last year.

Let me tell you....when I saw this I was not too happy. Don't get me wrong....I love the song, but if you look back at my older posts you will see that I just posted a layout of my husband and my youngest son titled Once Upon a Dream. I think that linking back to old posts is cheating so I had to come up with something new.

While I was looking for pictures for a different layout I came across these pictures of me when I was about 2 years old pretending to be pregnant and then with a baby doll. When I came across the photos of me pregnant with my 2nd son I knew what I wanted to make.

I took some of the flowers I have been makeing (thank you Nanne) and I loved how they looked. Then the layout just kind of took on a life of its own.

I used the sketch from Been There, Done That, Have the Layout but I turned it on its side

I got the title from Scrap it with a Song

The buttons are from Hobby Lobby mixed bags

The font is from Disney's Dreams come True cart

The bottom paper is from my stash

The top paper is from s.e.i. playdate pack

This layout also qualifies for:

Been There, Done That, Have the Layout: the sketch turned on its side
Practical Scrappers: buttons

UPDATE: This layout made top 5 at Scrap it With a Song!!!

Winter Wonderland challenge

At Winter Wonderland the challenge this week is anything goes for Christmas.
I used my cuttlebug for the embossing

The rain dots are by fiskars and I got them at Big Lots for a dollar

The paper came from Big Lots

I white penned around the letters

SOUS blog hop

I think I need to drink more coffee...I won the Glitz paper from this weekends blog hop and I forgot to tell everyone. Maybe I was having too much fun making flowers...lol. Speaking of the flowers...I used Nanne's tutorial on the SOUS site to learn how to make them. Back to the paper...hehehehe...if you haven't seen it I am posting a pic. I cant wait to get it so I can play!!!

I made this layout from the SOUS sketch. I had the best time learning how to make the flowers. I now have a drawer full for when I want to use them. When I showed this one to my hubby he actually got excited about it and how much he liked it. I hope all of you like it too.

The printed paper is from American Crafts a la carte minstrone

The circles paper is by cloud 9 and it is chocolate chalet

The solids are from my stash

I made the flowers using accent essential

The leaves are from Stretch your imagination

The flourishes are from make the cut I used kraft color paper and then inked it

The butterflies are from story book

I used my cuttlebug to emboss the butterflies with the swiss dots folder

The fairy and the font are from Tinkerbell and Friends cart

This layout also qualifies for:

SPCC color challenge: Dusty Durango, Kraft, Green Galor

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

I am sure there are a few of you out there that have the same issue I have...too many pictures that need to be developed. I use snapfish because I get alot of print for free and I want until there is free shipping to order any. I currently have over 1500 pictures on there that need to be printed and I have another 600 that I havent even uploaded yet. Well...about 2 weeks ago I got 209 pictures for just $2.71 and that included tax and shipping, so I am starting to scrap them. They all happen to be from some of our trips to Disney World last year.I guess that explains why I am doing Halloween layouts in the spring.

The title MNSSHP Is what everyone on the message boards calls the party for short

I used the sketch from Lasting Memories Pages in Time
All the papers were in my stash from Big Lots, Micheal's and Hobby Lobby

The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby

I used Plantin for the font and the ovals to make the pumpkins

The pumpkin stems were cut by hand

I used Petal Point Ancient Page on the pumpkins

If you look closely at the orange paper I used Mickey Mouse head scissors

All the cuts were done with Paper Dolls Everyday

The font was done in Dream of Me (closest I could find to the movie font) using Make the Cut

The printed paper is from my Hobby Lobby and Micheal's single page stash

scrap that song

I made this layout for Scrap it with a Song. It is a new challenge site that uses songs to inspire creativity. How great is that? This week is the first week and the song was Your Song by Elton John.

I like to think out side the box and I knew that most people would go for the romance of it or the new baby side of it. I decided to finally use the pictures of when our 1st house was being built.

I used Plantin for the font

Going Places was used for the house and key

The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby

Every thing else was used from my stash from Big Lots

I wanna be like U

I made this layout to qualify for a number of different challenges. I really like how it turned out. I think it is cute.

The printed paper is from the Safari Kids pack by DCWV

The tree is from PDDU

Font and vine is Zooballoo

I embossed the tree with my cuttlebug

Font is Dusty Durango and the shadow of it is done in Gable Green, it is hard to tell that in the picture

The Challenges:

The Scrappiest- sketch

Design Dollies- colors: BROWN, ORANGE and TEAL

SPCC- colors: Gable Green, Green Galore, Dusty Durango

Frosted Designs- use a tree

The Cuttlebug Spot- movies (This is the movie Jungle Book)

Simon says stamp challenge

This week Simon Says Stamp's challenge is "Let's go to the movies ( and dry embossing). This weeks challenge is a fun one!!! We all love the movies, so let's make a card or project about the MOVIES!!! It can be a movie theme, or movies in general, a specific movie you love, popcorn, etc. ANYTHING to do with MOVIES!!!!! ALSO, as a little twist, add in some DRY EMBOSSING to your project this week!"

I decided to go with some pictures of my oldest when he met Prince Caspian from the Narnia movie at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I embossed the shield and letters. It is hard to see the embossing or the words but I did it with the swiss dots folder.

I made Aslan (lion) with make the cut

The sword and the shield are from Paper Dolls Dress Up

The papers are from random trips to Big Lots

Blog Hop 365 cards

365 Cards was the hardest of all the challenges for me. I just had a hard time with the white space. But, I got it done and it is the last of the 6 challenges. That means I did them all!!!! Go Me...lol.

I used wedding sols cart

My cuttlebug for the swirls on the dress

The other embellis came from Big Lots on random visits

Blog Hop Sketchy Thursdays

I have been waiting for the 209 pictures I ordered from snap fish to get here so I could make this layout. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use the photos with the Cars characters. I also knew I wanted to use bright primary colors. There isn't very much bling on it but I had a hard time making it. My 2 and 3 year old boys kept wanting to "watch and help" me. In others words touch and tear everything. It was cute that they got so excited over the pics.

The printed paper is from the All About Boys pack by DCWV

I used the Cars cart for all the cuts

This also works for the Cupcake Craft challenge childhood memories

Blog Hop scrap that poetry

I thought that Scrap that Poetry site's project was going to be harder then it was. Once I picked out the phrase in the poem I wanted to use it ended up being pretty easy.

I used plantin school for the numbers

Designers calendar for the months

Winter Woodland for the phrase.

The worded paper is from my minds eye simply delightful

The ribbon is from Big Lots after Christmas bin and I think I paid about $0.35 for it.

The buttons are from a Hobby Lobby mixed bag

The rest of the papers are random papers that I had in my paper drawers

I am pretty pleased with how this turned out. Our friend asked me today to make him a layout page of Allen. I think I am going to give this one to him.

This also qualifies for The sisterhood of Crafters all about family/faith-remembrance

UPDATE: This layout made the top 3 at the sisterhood of crafters

I WON!!!

I cant belive I won this wonderful blog candy from Crafty Granny Designs!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Blog Hop Cuttlebug Spot

I decided to enter 2 different projects for the blog hop when it came to the cuttlebug spot and practical scrappers. They are both wanting bling. I decided to enter the blinged out birthday card I made for my niece.

Blog Hop Practical Scrappers

Practical Scrappers challenge for the blog hop say..."Show us your projects that feature glitter, bling, jewels, pearls...all that fun girly stuff!"

Well....since I only have boys and no girls I did my nieces 6th birthday. I put glitter stickers and rhinestone stickers all over it.

This also qualifies for the color challenge on Design Dollies pink, yellow, black

Blog Hop Pile it On

Pile it on's challenge for the blog hop is Say it with Words (NO IMAGE, ONLY quote, sentiment or embellishments as focal point).

Here is Pile It On's concept: "Each Sunday we will give you a challenge. We would like you to incorporate our challenge with at least one other CURRENT challenge (at the time of posting) to "qualify" to be one of our Three Top Scoops or should there be a prize offered that week."

My layout currently qualifies for:
Pile It On no image
Sundays with Crissy make it a combo
If the Shoe Fits color challenge

Never Enough

I have been looking at the colors on the design dollies challenge for a few days now. I love the colors I just didn't know what I wanted to do with them. Today creative scrappers announced the sketch for this weeks challenge and I decided to go with it.

The colors for DDs were dark green, rusty orange and yellow. I know it is hard to tell from the pics but the back paper is rusy orange and I actually backed the photos with a yellow and then put them on a kraft color paper.

I hand made the grape bunch. I used story book for the leaf. Did you know there are no grapes cuts on any of the cricut carts? At least not on the ones on Design Studio right now. Go figure.

It also ended up qualifying for the color challenge at if the shoe fits also.

I am loving doing the challenges. I am using papers and techniques that I never thought I would ever use.

christmas card challenge

I decided to enter a card into a challenge. This will be a first for me so we will see how it goes. The challenge is on Winter Wonderland and you have to use embossing. For those of you that know me I love to emboss my cards so it wasn't too hard for me to do this one.

My card also qualifies for the lots to do challenge.

Scrap for a Good Cause

For those who do not know my oldest son has aspergers autism. I found a site today while hopping around in space that is actually giving $1 for every project entered to the autism foundation. The site is humble pie stamps aka The Town Scrapper. The challenge is to create something using a puzzle piece. Please go and check them out. You might be surprised who you know who has it. If you have any time to watch tv the new show parenthood has a good story line with a child that has aspergers in it.

scrap that baby and frosted designs

I had a harder time with this layout. I love the paper it is on and I really wanted to use it. The nursery rhymes on it are adorable. I wasnt sure at all what I wanted to do or how I wanted to do it. Some how I ended up using gold paper and I think it came out pretty cute.

It actually works for a few challenges. Scrap that baby wants a layout about the "day you were born" it can be your kids or grand kids or friends kids.

Frosted Designs want you to make any thing as long as you use the word Dream on it some how.

A spoon full of sugar wants something Male inspired

I used Dreams come True and Story Book for the words

The flourishes were done in story book

The gold paper is from a pack from walmart that I have had over a year

Both back ground papers came from a $2 pack from Big lots

The ribbon is from the dollar spot at Target that I got back when I first started scrapping

The rain dots are cloud 9 that I got from big lots

Pink Elephant Challenge.

Before

When I saw this challenge on The Pink Elephant I was super excited.

"The challenge is to take an old layout and give it a Make-Over! You know you have one that you have just been dying to redo! Most of us do! Take the whole thing apart, or just add to it! Whatever you do just
make it fun and scrappy!"

I took the first layout I had ever done and ripped it apart and totally gave it a make over. I think it looks so much better. I used the sketch from Creative Scrappers and the color pallet from Friends Having Fun's first challenge ever, and Our Creative Corner break out the buttons.

the back ground paper is Deja views Sharon Ann collection baby boy

the circle is paper from the Dollar Tree when they carried paper

the words are the paper studio

the ribbon is from the dollar spot at Target that i have had for a long time

the buttons came from a mixed bag from hobby lobby

so cute is from Paisley

I chalked around the phrase using pebbles pastels

Devine

This layout was inspired by Nanne's mane guy layout. I used paper doll dress up for the trees. Animal kingdom for the lions, and Make the cut for the banana bunches. I chalked and inked all the embellishments. The pictures are of Devine from Disney's animal kingdom. She is amazing to watch.
