Photo inspired challenge

I kind of threw this layout together. I saw the hat picture for the Crafty Hos' Challenge Blog and I just knew I had to do this one.

These pictures are from Tanner's first birthday. for some reason my mom has always gotten a hat of some sort for the kids first birthdays. You would think after 6 grand kids she would know that they dont like hats on their first birthday.

Details:

The paper is from my stash

The font and hats are Pooh font

I used a brown glitter gel pen to out line the font cuts

Scrap it with a Song: Guns and Roses

These weeks song at Scrap it With a Song is Guns and Roses Sweet Child O' Mine. This layout is pretty simple but I think it is very fitting. I took this picture of Tobin a year or two ago. We were at a moms group play date and he just wasn't getting his own way. I took this picture to show him some day when he has kids of his own....lol.

I was able to use the layout sketch from My Little Sketch Blook and the colors from SPCC.

Details:

Background paper and journaling chipboard is Rhonna Farrer

Left side paper is Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine

Font is opposites attract

Circles are from George

I white penned the word cry. I thought about doing the circles too but I wanted to keep this layout simple and make Tobin's picture draw all attention

Circus

The Design Dollies' elements challenge this week is about the circus. I have been wanting to scrap these pictures of my son for a while and I knew this was perfect. These pictures were taken at Universal Studios Orlando in the Curious George area. It just happens to have a circus tent play area. This layout is so simple but I think it shows how much fun the kids had that day. I took 2 pictures of it. One with the flash and one with a light on it. You would think I made the same one twice in different colors.

Details:

The pattern paper is from the All About Boys stack by DCWV

The font was cut in SCAL and I closed it before I remembered to write down the name of it.

This layout also qualifies for:

Practical Scrappers: Patterned Paper
52x52: Yellow, Green, Blue
Scrap That Baby: Fun and Games- Tobin was 2 in these pictures

Scrap it with a Song: Tater Swiss....I mean Taylor Swift

I was so excited to see this weeks song at scrap it with a song. I hate that I couldn't do last weeks but Cyndi Lauper's voice is like finger nails down a chalk board to me so I just could not force myself to do it. I did think to myself.....hhhuuuummmmm....I wonder if they will ever do any Jewel or Taylor Swift.

For any one who doesn't know, Jewel has been my favorite for years. Look closely at my blog picture. It is from when my wonderful hubby took me to her concert and got backstage passes to meet her. Just in case you don't know who Jewel is, she has the blond hair, obviously the guy in the pic is my hubby, and I have the brown hair. On a side note....A few days after this picture was taken Jon proposed to me. Of course after that I wasn't going to tell him no. We ladies aren't the only ones who know how to get what they want from our significant others....hehehehehe.

Ok....back to the layout...the song this week is Love Story by Taylor Swift. When I found these pictures of my oldest son at Disney World I knew they were perfect. I went with the part of the song that says: you'll be the prince and I'll be the princess. You cant get much more princess then Cinderella. The other picture is of him trying to pull the sword out of the stone in front of Cinderella's castle.

Details:

The sketch is from Crop Divas

Background paper is from The Once Upon A Time stack by DCWV. I love how is says There lived a handsome prince at the top of the page in glitter.

Chip board letters are from Brenda Pinnick designs. I had a hard time photographing this because of the fold on the letters showing the flash.

I made the flowers, some are from AWiMG and others I had made before but not used and I don't know where the cuts are from.

This layout also qualifies for:
Sisterhood of Scrap: Brown
Crop Divas: sketch

UPDATE: This layout made Top 5 at Scrap it With a Song

Award

With work, Mothers Day, my birthday and Tobins 4th birthday all in the same week I have not been able to update the important things like I usually do. I was given this wonderful award by Tina of Bits and Scraps of My Life.

I love reading her blog. She never fails to make me giggle. Now that I know we are so close to each other we might have to leave kids with hubbies and make mischief together. I got a feeling if she and I got together trouble would find us...lol.

Now for me to accept this award I have a few rules I must follow:

1. Link back to the person who gave me the award.
2. Post where you would like to be in 10 years.
3. Give this award to 10 awesome bloggers.

I already linked Tina up so I guess step 2. In 10 years I want to be living in Orlando working at Disney World a few days a week. Honestly if you know me you will not be surprised by that at all...lol.

Now for the bloggers.

1. Tonia A Sprinkle of this and a Pinch of That : she is one of my BFFs in real life and she is just getting started making cards and being in the blogging life. I know she will end up as addicted as I am. If you get a sec stop by and give her some encouragement and blog luv.

2. Brenda: Bug Bitten Disney Fanatic

3. Jamie: Bits of Paper

4. Beatriz: Amazing Grace I know she has this already but she never fails to leave a comment of encouragement. Thank you so much for that!!!

5. Nanne: Nanne's Creations I want to be like her when I grow up.

6. Fern: Fern's Creations from the Heart

7. Craftin Granny: Craftin Granny's Card Shack

Scrap and Stamp Saturday sketch

I had to think outside the box on this sketch from Scrap and Stamp. I am not into the folded ribbon look so I made it into a train and track instead. Of course in order for me to do that I had to turn the layout on its side. I have been wanting to scrap these pictures for awhile now. I took them in 2008 at Universal Studios. I sat with my youngest (2 now) who was only 11 months at the time and Tobin who was 2 and a half (will be 4 on the 17th) while my husband and oldest road the Simpsons ride. Tobin was so cute just running his trains on the sides of the flower beds. I think he had as much fun doing that as he did riding rides.

The background paper is from Me and My Big Ideas

The font is from ACY

I used white pen on the font and siver pen on the train

The wheels of the train are chalked using cats eye charcoal

This layout also qualifies for:

SPCC: Bermuda Blue, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel
Design Dollies: BLACK, YELLOW, TURQUOISE
Stamping With Stacey Curtain Call color challenge {act 29}: Summer Yellow, Bordering Blue, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango

What a Birthday!!!

So hubby surprised me by having some of my friends come over last night. I had no idea they were all going to be here. I honestly though that one of my friends was going to watch the kids and then he and I were going to go out to eat.

He got me some great gifts too. He got me the Once Upon A Time paper stack by DCWV. Then he got me Doodle Charms and Walk in My Garden and a he got me a JUKEBOX!!!!! I am so excited about it. My friends were more then generous too. I got a gift card to Micheals and a 50% off coupon and the Cuttin Up cartridge. Then I had a friend get a clear bucket and decorated it with vinyl and put some t-shirts in it. I love the shirts!!! One says 100% certified scrap-a-holic for life. Another one says scrapers are acid free and the last one says scrap queen. My friends are great!!! I love them.

Then after every one left I found out I won this from The Sisterhood of Scrap. I had a great birthday!!!

Sketchy Thursday challenge

Happy Mothers Day everyone!!! My hubby was a good boy this year and got me 2 cartridges, opposites attract and sentimentals. Then he got me subway (my favorite) for lunch. Right now he is making new york strips on the grill before I go to work. All this for mothers day I cant wait until my birthday (may 11th).

So with my quiet time today I got to make a layout. I really like how this one came out. It is of myself and my son Tobin with some friends that we went to Disney World with last October. Tobin wasn't to sure about meeting Alice but he loosened up fairly quickly.

Sketch is from Sketchy Thursday

Flower patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye simply delightful pack

The other paper is from my stash

Chipboard letters are from making memories

A Childs Year cut the leaves

Flowers are what I am most proud of because I work at a store with fake flowers. At night we vacuum up all the petals on the floor. One day I picked them up instead of sweeping them up and my manager said I could have them. I took them apart, layered them and put a brad in them. Free flowers!!!!! Love it!

This layout also qualifies for:

Design Dollies Color Challenge: Pink, Cream, Orange (it is hard to tell in the pic but the biggest flower has a back layer that is burnt orange)
The Beary Sweet Design Team: flowers
She's a Sassy Lady: summery

Look what I won For national scrap book day

These are super cute felties I won from Poppy Paper Kit Co they are Sassafras Lass . I cant wait to get them.

Scrap it with a Song: Lady Gaga

Scrap it with a song has become one of my favorite challenge sites. It makes me really think outside the box. This weeks song is Paparazzi by Lady Gaga. Cant say that I am a fan of hers or even that I like this song so I really had to look at the lyrics to come up with some thing to inspire me. If anyone else comes up with this I know that they got the idea from me.

If you listen to the chorus she always says Papa, Paparazzi. Then there are a few times she says
" you know I'll be your Papa, Paparazzi"

Well I took I'll be your Papa and made a layout of my dad holding Gavin (son number 2) in the hospital. How genius is that?! As you can tell I am pretty proud of myself for this title, and aren't those scrabble letters the cutest? I must also say that I have listened to the song enough times now that I am starting to like it. Go figure....lol.

The layout sketch is from last weeks LID challenge on the cricut message board

All the paper is from sei play date pack

The scrabble letters are from a kit I got at Tuesday Morning

The lime green buttons are from a Hobbly Lobby mixed bag

I inked around the pictures with weathered wood distress ink

I used a fiskars boarder punch for the out lines

This layout also qualifies for:
Frosted Designs: Brown, Aqua, Lime Green
Friends Having Fun: Deep Turquoise, Tarra Cotta, Lemon Chiffon
Allsorts: Animals
Pike it on: boyish colors
